God Is At Work In Us

Devotional Thought

Writers block, when you just cannot find the right words to express yourself can be painful. You just feel stuck. Sometimes the most hopeful truth is knowing God is working within you even when you feel stuck.

Interpretation

Paul reassures believers that God is actively at work within them, empowering both the desire to do good and the ability to carry it out for his pleasure, as part of the ongoing process of sanctification. In this cooperative dynamic, God's enabling grace initiates and sustains holy living without overriding human response, allowing believers to freely align their wills with his through the Spirit's influence. The verse emphasizes sanctification as a present reality where God's inner working transforms character and conduct, fostering growth in Christlikeness amid daily obedience.

Contemporary Relevance

You are not trying to compose the story of your spiritual life alone. You have a ghost writer who helps you write your testimony. The Spirit’s work is dynamic, interactive, and deeply personal. God gently forms the desires that lead to obedience and equips you with the strength to follow through. Sanctification becomes a journey where God’s presence meets our willingness, shaping who we become.
