Have Faith: Trusting the Promise

Devotional Thought

Faith is the open hand that receives God’s gift. It is not blind optimism, but confidence rooted in the character of Christ. To believe is to entrust yourself completely to the One who cannot fail.

Interpretation

In Acts 16, Paul and Silas proclaim salvation through faith alone to a desperate jailer. This declaration underscores that salvation is not a transaction of merit but a transfer of trust — from self to Savior. Faith unites the believer to Christ’s finished work; it anchors the soul in His reliability rather than human uncertainty. To believe is to see the unseen, to rest one’s hope in a Person, not a plan. Through faith, the gospel becomes not only true, but personal and transformative.

Contemporary Relevance

Faith today still requires courage in the face of fear and disappointment. It means believing that Christ’s word is truer than our circumstances. As we cultivate faith, we learn to let go of control and lean into dependence. Every decision to trust Jesus deepens our confidence in His faithfulness.
