Scripture Focus: Galatians 3:13-14
“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us …” (NIV)
Devotional Thought
We all feel the weight of “curse” — things that seem doomed to repeat, cycles that never seem to break. Jesus steps into that cycle to end it.
Interpretation
Paul reveals Jesus as the willing redeemer who steps into humanity's place under the law's curse — pronounced on all who fail its perfect demands — by becoming that curse himself on the cross, as Deuteronomy 21:23 foretold of anyone hanged on a tree. This act breaks the power of condemnation that separated Jews and Gentiles alike from God's covenant life, liberating believers from sin's penalty through faith rather than flawless obedience. As a result, the long-promised blessing of Abraham — righteousness, relationship with God, and the Spirit's indwelling — flows freely to all nations, restoring what the curse had stolen and fulfilling God's inclusive plan without ethnic barriers.
Definition
Reversing the Curse: Jesus undoes the curse of sin — spiritual, relational, and even cosmic—restoring the blessing God intended from the beginning.
Contemporary Relevance
Because Jesus broke the curse, your story is not trapped in repetition. You are free to live as someone marked by God’s blessing, not sin’s legacy.
Quote of the Day
“The resurrection is God’s ‘yes’ to creation.” — Jürgen Moltmann
