Scripture Focus: Romans 8:11

“The Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you…” (NIV)

Devotional Thought

Dream of having access to the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. Scripture says you do — and it is not symbolic. It is real.

Interpretation

Paul expresses the powerful promise that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now lives in believers, giving them resurrection life even now and ensuring future bodily resurrection. This Spirit does not just bring spiritual renewal but also imparts life to our mortal, fragile bodies, signaling a living hope that extends beyond death. The verse emphasizes the present reality of resurrection power within us, transforming our daily experience with God’s life-giving presence. This ongoing indwelling presence assures believers of both victory over sin and the future hope of sharing in Christ’s resurrection, showing how deeply God is at work to bring new life from death in us.

Contemporary Relevance

We often live as though we are powerless — overwhelmed by habit, fear, or discouragement. But the Spirit’s resurrection power is already at work within us. He strengthens us to choose life over death, courage over fear, and faithfulness over resignation. The Spirit’s presence is not a distant promise but our daily strength. Everything that feels dead in you, all of your failures, disappointment, sins and struggles, the Spirit can revive. As the grave could not hold Jesus body down, our spiritual and emotional graves cannot contain the Spirit’s power.
