Scripture Focus: Acts 17:27
“…he is not far from any one of us.” (NIV)
Devotional Thought
Have you ever frantically searched for something — keys, glasses, your phone — only to realize it was right there the whole time? Paul says many people approach God the same way: searching everywhere for the One who is already close.
Interpretation
Speaking to the philosophers of Athens, Paul teaches that God intentionally placed people on earth so they would seek Him and, by searching, find Him, emphasizing God's closeness to everyone rather than distant separation. This verse reflects God's gracious invitation extended to all, enabling human beings to respond freely to His presence and call. God's nearness is not forced upon anyone but always seeks a willing response, affirming both divine sovereignty and genuine human freedom in the process of salvation. This nearness signals an intimate relationship where God is accessible and present, encouraging people to actively reach out and discover the life and purpose He offers.
Contemporary Relevance
Many assume God is hard to find or emotionally distant. But Scripture insists He is near — present in your conversations, decisions, uncertainties, and daily rhythms. Even when you feel far from God, He is actively drawing near. When it feels like God has abandoned you, it is never become God has walked out on you, rather we have abandoned God. God continues to, as framed by C. S. Lewis, stalk us. Your spiritual longing is not evidence of distance but of God’s invitation. The question is not whether God is close, but whether you are paying attention.
Quote of the Day
“We never go where God is not.” — Elisabeth Elliot

When you feel spiritual longing, are you expecting God to be distant — or present in the very moment you are living right now?
Prayer Prompt
Ask God to make you aware of His presence throughout your day.
